Italian Tropics is a porject devoleped with researchr and designer Eugenia Morpurgo.
An investigation on how climate change is reshaping the Italian territory, its biodiversity, local economies and
their conservation strategies.

With the first chapter of this research, titled Lotus Flower, we decided to focus on the century-old presence of the species Nelumbo Nucifera, in the Mincio valley and the lakes that circumscribe Mantua.

By following the history of this plant over the last 100 years, we aim to present the complexity of landscape in which the effects of climate change, the exploitation of the countryside by agroindustry and the opening of local markets to global exchange networks are playing a decisive role in the survival of an ecosystem as fragile as this wetland.

This work unfolds at a historical moment when, aware of the failure of an economic system based on the exploitation and extraction of planetary resources, human and otherwise, we are all called to contribute to the imagination and construction of a new reality.
With this in mind, Italian Tropics - Lotus Flower does not simply give an account of the facts, but seeks to open perspectives for intervention.

By recounting local experiences, made up of people, plants,animals, waters, lands and their stories, it seeks to expose how the past, present and future of these must necessarily be studied and understood in the fundamental interdependence between the whole.
